THE VISION — Road Home Financial Projection
Fortunately, the ministry of the Road Home Chaplains Service is not an overly expensive one. There are costs, however, for payroll, training, travel, materials and technology that must be covered. The exact details are still being formed, but the following information represents a “best guess” for the expected budget.
PHASE ONE – “Feasibility” (3-5 months) ($10,000 - $15,000)

- Set Up Accounting / Accounts / Book Keeping
- Appoint First 10 – 20 Chaplains
- Appoint Director
- Begin creation and collection of devotional materials / referrals
- Launch Program – Notify Industry
PHASE TWO – “Launch” (3 Months) ($10,000 - $15,000)
- Chaplain Training
- Devotional Materials Finalized
- Fund Raising Plan Initiated
- Further Development of Web Site
- Office Established, Assistant / Book Keeper etc Hired
- Launch Event and Dedication (Nashville)
PHASE THREE – “Hitting the Road” (No Time Limit – Budget to Be Finalized)

- Public Web Site Launched
- All Devotional Materials Launched
- Begin Assembling “Hot Spots Oases”
The plan here is to secure funding to cover salary and overhead for the director (Thompson) as well as book keeping and accounting set-up, travel, training and tech development. The estimated time for the pre-launch work is 6 – 8 months, based on Thompson being able to dedicate 80% of his working time to the program.
Before the program has been officially launched the budget will be finalized and approved by the board. Considering overhead, travel, technological investment, services and training, the first year’s budget is expected to be in the $150,000 range. The program will proceed, however, even if not fully funded, albeit on a smaller basis.
All books will be distributed to board members, and the public will be notified of the general expenditures via the Road Home website. All donors will receive annual financial reports and monthly progress reports.
In the beginning Road Home will function as a subsidiary ministry of The Warehouse Church, in Aurora IL. It will be subject to the authority of the Road Home board of directors AND the Warehouse Church elders. The Warehouse Church is a non-denominational Christian church that was founded in 1988 and is affiliated with the Willow Creek Association and several local and regional churches for accountability purposes.
The plan is for the ministry to secure its own tax-exempt status, and at such a time it will become an independent ministry, subject to the board of directors.
Road Home will in NO WAY act as a promotional vehicle for The Warehouse Church.
Contributions are being accepted at this time, and are fully tax-deductible.
If there are any questions about the financial plan of the Road Home Chaplains Service please email John J. Thompson or Joe Paskewich.
